KITTENS AND CATS FOR ADOPTION

We here at the Kitten Nursery believe that it is important to provide a nurturing environment that includes a playmate, especially for kittens under a year old when they are the most playful.  

We also try to ensure success for the kitten and the new household by matching them as closely as possible. Kittens without a playmate who become lonely can develop unwanted behaviours like not using the litter or meowing incessantly, damaging things in your home and are generally unhappy.  Likewise introducing a kitten into a home with only older cats can also be unhealthy as kittens tend to play as they develop their catting skills and older cats sleep more during the day. Kittens can become very unwelcome as they disrupt the older cat’s routine. 

It is best to match ages as close as possible as the energy levels are more compatible.  We often get momma cats here at the nursery which would be a better fit for some families. After having a litter or two of kittens they appear to be less playful and settle easier. 

Please consider matching a new feline to your current circumstances.  We want to help families as much as we can but our main concern is the kitten/cat. We advocate for them as they are not able to speak for themselves.  

Hopefully this information helps you to understand why we have these policies.  Also please note that most of our kittens are adopted out in pairs as we feel that this is best for the kittens and the adoptions. Single kittens will only be adopted to homes where there is another young cat or kitten.
